Factory Ford roller cams are steel and require a steel gear.Ford Mustang & Fox Body & SN95 Mustang Engine Swap Kits ![]() I remember paying $225 for the set when I bought them.Īlso dont forget to pay attention to your distributor gear. Interesting note is that the Comp Cams kit I had 10 years ago had a large base circle to it and used shorter roller lifters. You can do the following to convert to a hydraulic roller on a non roller block:ġ) Have the lifter bores bushed and use stock hard ware (EXPENSIVE)Ģ) Buy the Crane roller lifters that are linked together (Also expensive.$375)ģ) Buy a small base circle cam and use stock lifters, retainers and spider bar (for large cams this can result in reduced performance because of the smaller lobe centers)Ĥ) Buy a Crane or Comp Cams hydraulic roller conversion (Also expensive as the Comp kit I bought back in 1995 was $500 for the cam, lifters, push rods and stock retainers and spider bar). The problem is the lifters will come up too far out of the bore and uncover the oil hole AND hang up causing some pretty catastrophic valve train damage. The only way you can get away with any hydraulic roller cam and use the stock lifters is IF you have the lifter bores bushed to make them taller. Click to expand. The guy at Lunati is incorrect. ![]()
